Week Two......long week
Sorry this is coming so late gang been a stressful couple of days since last I posted. So I am just gonna recap real quick like because its late for me and i have another long day of training ahead of me. This past week was filled with a lot of ups and downs, It started with the disbanding of our first temp teams which was depressing because they were the first people I got close with, luckily I retained one of my former teammates for my second temp team, he also happened to be my roommate so it worked out pretty well. Monday started out with a 5am wake up for our baseline PT test which involved a mile and a half run, pushups and situps...terrible way to start the week. This was followed by 7 hours of terrible lecturing where I learned almost nothing. Tuesday was was much of the same...8 hours of lecture, team bonding over dinner, and crossing an 8 lane free way on foot to go grocery shopping. Wednesday was also not very eventful, lots of lectures. Thursday I got CPR certified....lol I know right.....Friday was the worst, 8 hours of listening to the worst public speaker I have ever had to listen to, talk about running a relief shelter while it was beautiful out side....the worst!!.....despite all my whining last week was nice, got pretty close with my new team had a lot of laughs and played some ultimate which was nice. Unfortunately the the weekend had as many ups and downs.....ups had two great nights out with friends Ive made here. downs.....the corps got banned from a bar because of a minor, and there was a massive fight on campus between a bunch of dumb kids...so we got bitched at pretty hard. This week is proving to be interesting so far but I will leave that for next time, good night.

Week one is in the books
Its Saturday afternoon, Only the second time I have had enough energy to walk to where I can access the Wifi here on campus. The train ride from the burgh to Jackson MS was long an tedious but it was interesting plus I got to see Chris Brammel for a few hours, Chicago is a pretty intense place lol
DAY 1
Monday Feb 27th was my first day on campus was full of paper work, touring the campus, introducing my self to many of the other 166 corps members, and finally finding my bed located in the dorm known as Ann.
DAY 2
Tuesday Feb 28th. Day 2 consisted of a few basic meetings, Getting placed in a Temp team with several other individuals under the care of a TL (team leader) named Seth, hes an interesting guy. Seth has a good sense of humor very well organized, I also became fast friends with one of my roomies who is also on my temp team named Kyle, unfortunately our third roommate is a little strange, but not unbearable.
Day 3
Wednesday Feb 29th. Day 3 was interesting, we picked up uniforms, boots, packs, and a parka. We then got a TB test and a Tetanus shot......My arm still hurts lol
Day 4
Thursday March 1st. This ended up being the longest day of the week thus far. 8am-12pm classes, 12pm-1pm = lunch, 1pm-530pm = classes. today was also the day we start to cook for ourselves.....imagine 40 some people all eating out of the same kitchen on the same exact schedule as you......Crazyness!!!....with the help of another teammate we made pizza for our group.
Day 5
Friday march 2nd. Best day of the week so far. We had several hours of diversity training in the morning but after lunch we donned our uniforms and ventured to a local cemetery for tool training, which in it self was lame, but I got to play with a J-blade which is vicious and an Axe....awesome lol.
The night ended with a spectacular southern thunder storm which lit up the sky in every direction....pretty epic!
Day 6....is that all?
Saturday march 3rd. Woke up early this morning for and optional service learning project (not really optional) spent several hours passing out water and cheering on runners and walkers alike in the annual Vicksburg history 5K. Towards the end of the day a group of roughly 40 of us rallied behind the last remaining contestant and jogged the last mile with her cheering her on towards the finish.....pretty exciting week so far....hope it gets a little less stressful but i doubt that lol.....well anyway its abut dinner time, Sorry for the length of this. I will try to post more often.

The count down
Its late.....In roughly 25 minutes in will be Friday February the 3rd, leaving me only 25 days till I leave. These last few weeks have been tenuous an galling to say the least, I have been trying to save enough money to be able to pay my bills while I am away. I will have almost no income, so basically the next 10 months will be the poorest of my life, which is impressive cause I was pretty broke through out college lol, But other than money issues I have yet to receive my travel itinerary from my program director, understandably they are planning travel for over 1500 people to travel on the same day, but I would just like to get it out of the way so I know nothing is wrong. anyway I have been keeping my self busy by working 6 days a week between two jobs plus working out 4 days a week. Anyway I am excited to get underway I have been working towards this trip for a little over a year now, gonna be tough but worth it.
